Smart Fuel was born far from the refinery floor—its roots trace back to our Founders' success in the furniture world. As coffee tables and credenzas with built-in fireplaces surged in popularity, homeowners began filling them with whatever flammable liquid they could find at the local hardware store: isopropyl alcohol, paint thinner, even camping fuel. The result was predictable—soot-stained ceilings, toxic fumes, and the ever-present threat of a violent flashback known as flame jetting.

We decided to build a fuel that eliminated those risks instead of merely warning against them. The solution: a recycled, corn-based bio-ethanol refined back to pharmaceutical purity. When it burns, it releases nothing more than trace CO₂ and water vapor—no smoke, no odor, no mystery chemicals. And because safety is meaningless without engineering controls, we paired our fuel with the industry’s first Flame Mitigation Device (FMD) in 2009. This built-in flame arrestor prevents ignited vapor from traveling back into the bottle and turning a simple pour into an explosion.

Today, Smart Fuel isn’t just a cleaner-burning ethanol—it’s proof that waste can become a resource and that safety can be designed into every drop.
